Effective, Holistic Care
for Women Rooted in
Traditional Chinese Medicine,
Tailored to You.
You are unique. Your care should be as well. This is a basic understanding in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It takes a holistic view of your health and wellbeing and individualizes treatment, supporting your body's own ability to heal and facilitating broader balance and harmony in all aspects of life.
At Embolden Acupuncture and Coaching, our initial consultation allows us to spend time discussing your goals and concerns and tailoring an appropriate treatment plan focused on addressing your health concerns and optimizing your overall wellbeing. Our experienced, compassionate providers strive to create an environment where you are heard and empowered.
As women, our lives unfold in stages, from menarche and adolescence to possible pregnancy and childbirth, to menopause. Traditional Chinese Medicine can help balance our bodies and ease symptoms that might occur during these transitions. These symptoms may manifest as menstrual irregularities, PMS, PMDD, PCOS, endometriosis and more.
Whether you are just starting your fertility journey and preparing to conceive or doing medication-assisted cycles, IUI, or IVF, Traditional Chinese Medicine can support you in helping maximize reproductive outcomes. Research shows acupuncture can help balance reproductive hormones, limit the interference of stress hormones and increase blood flow to the reproductive organ, promoting follicular development and endometrial health.
Acupuncture is a safe and effective therapy that can be used to treat a wide range of conditions in pregnancy (including, but not limited to, nausea/vomiting, constipation, hemorrhoids, fatigue, musculoskeletal pain, hypertension, breech positioned babies) and provide an alternative to the use of medications. Acupuncture can also be effective in recovering from childbirth and help with symptoms such as insufficient lactation, mastitis, fatigue, pain, postpartum depression/anxiety, night sweats and hormone inbalances.
Menopause is an expected and natural transition, with symptoms varying greatly by individual. Research shows the duration of these symptoms last an average of seven years. Studies have shown that acupuncture can help alleviate the symptoms of hot flashes, vaginal dryness, insomnia, and depression associated with menopause. Acupuncture appears to treat perimenopause and menopause symptoms by
regulating hormone levels, increasing relaxation and reducing tension, and stimulating nerves located in muscles and other tissues.
Traditional Chinese Medicine can be an effective method to maintain overall health and wellbeing, limiting the effects of anxiety and stress and improve sleep and digestive issues. Research indicates that acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine is also an effective treatment for both acute and chronic pain, with the advantage of little to no side effect. Traditional Chinese Medicine can offer relief for conditions ranging from acute pain from trauma to migraines/headaches, abdominal pain, arthritic pain and back pain and more. It can also be helpful in treating metabolic and autoimmune disorders.
Acupuncture forms the foundation of most Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments. It involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin, which is thought to work with the body's nervous system to create change. Other modalities such as electro-acupuncture, cupping, gua sha or auricular treatment may be incorporated into your treatment plan as appropriate.
Chinese Herbal Medicine is an additional therapy that can be incorporated into your treatment plan. Chinese Herbal Medicine remedies, usually composed of multiple herbs, are traditionally prepared as teas. These formulas can be customized to your specific condition and body constitution. Today, these remedies can be taken as pills or powders for your convenience.
As a holistic medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, is also a lifestyle medicine. Based on your unique condition and goals, Chinese Medicine-Based nutritional recommendation, movement recommendations or other suggestion may be offered.
Hello! My name is Deborah Dick, and I am an acupuncturist, herbalist, clinical educator and wellbeing coach. My passion is empowering you to achieve your goals through the tools of Traditional Chinese Medicine and to live the vibrant, full life you were meant to. It is an honor to partner with you on your journey.
I started my path into Traditional Chinese Medicine when seeking care for my own health concerns. With my first acupuncture treatment, I knew that it was something I needed to learn and do. That was well over 20 years ago. Since then, I have worked in a variety of both acute care and ambulatory settings, with extensive experience in women's health, fertility, pregnancy/postpartum care and complex medical conditions. I believe in optimizing outcomes for patients and utilize evidence-based practices. My most recent venture has been developing the inpatient and outpatient pediatric acupuncture programs for the MHealth Fairview Health system. I continue to see pediatric patients exclusively through Fairview.
